There I was ......

I woke up to the dogs whining, this is nothing new, as it is only natural to walk a dog in the morning so it doesn't do it's business in my office where it sleeps and quites possibly visits doggy porn sites in the wee hours of the morning when i am asleep. I get up and ask Tanis to help me get ready to walk the dogs, she grumbles at me "Why do you need help to get ready?"

"Because, hon', it's cold.' I said. Not only is it cold it is freakin' freezing. I put on a pair of sweat pants, tshirt, a thick pair of slacks, a sweat shirt, two pair socks, and my old combat boots with my pants bloused in them; this was the easy part. Now comes the part of putting on the winter wear, her part in assisting me. It is like preparing for a mission to outer space, starts with my insulted vest, next comes my fleece lined down filled winter jacket, next comes my heavy gore tex gloves with my jacket sleeves bloused in them, and last is the standard nit cap. I am now prepared for an EVA with the dog.

Tanis grabs the leash and attaches it to Mac Gyver, who's happy now that he gets to take me out for a walk, then she attaches the leash to me and attempts to take up the slack by wrapping it around hand a couple of times. We are ready for EVA, or so I thought. Tanis opens the door to the porch, Mac yanks me through the door to the porch door "heel mac." I say. Mac looks up to me with the happy doggy joy joy face. Tanis opens the porch door and out bounds Mac Gyver the slack slips out of my hand, after the classic cartoon pause I come flying out of the door. Did I forget to mention not only was it cold, but there was freezing rain the night before and now it was sleeting. Mac was a dog in need of deep relief and was moving like he was on fire, unfortunatley he was not hot enough to melt the ice I was now skiing on. I am sure the neighbors were very amused by the man skiing behind the dog screaming "heel Mac, Heeeeelll!" Yep I have been one for a good winter dog drag. after I have returned home from the event Tanis was there to help to unbundle me from my polar EVA.

After I was unbundled we went into our office and settled down to our repective place in the office to check our websites, E-mails, and games.when I stated "boy we're lucky that our power didn't go out like the other places here in Kansas City." Is it me or do the fates have a great survaillence system, no sooner than I made the statement the Fates sent a branch laden with frozen water molecules onto a powerline that was also laden with the same frozen water molecules thus knocking out the power to the block. The only thing I heard from the darkness behind me was " You had to say that, didn't you." About thirty minutes later the lights came back on and there was much rejoicing to the gods of utilities.

Yep it is another day in Kansas City, MO.

Evan
